about

Sarey is a filmmaker and storyteller with roots in Los Angeles and Portland, OR. She was a producer (of horror films) and talent manager (of metal bands) before deciding to go to seminary and study theology. She simultaneously began cultivating several artistic and entrepreneurial projects.

Sarey's debut short, "Father Mary," played festivals and won awards in 2022. She’s been a finalist in Disney’s Launchpad program and Sundance’s Episodic Lab. She spent 10 years on the production and management team for Rob Zombie (collaborating on films with partners like Blumhouse, Anchor Bay, and Dimension) before getting a master’s and focusing on her own work. Her most recent short is an eerie, sci-fi drama, “The Winemaker,” which is currently playing festivals.

She is passionate about elevating femme voices, particularly in genre filmmaking - having been inspired by auteurs like Cronenberg, Lynch, and Jarmusch. She is also an advocate for the mental health of artists, a positive culture shift in the entertainment industry. She’s an active member of the PDX film community and the local chapter of Women in Film.
