Sarey is a filmmaker and storyteller with roots in Los Angeles and Portland, OR. She was a producer and talent manager before deciding to go to seminary. She simultaneously began writing and directing her own independent projects.
Sarey's debut short, "Father Mary," played festivals and won awards in 2022. She’s been a finalist in Disney’s Launchpad program and Sundance’s Episodic Lab. She spent 10 years on the production and management team for Rob Zombie (collaborating on films with partners like Blumhouse, Anchor Bay, and Dimension) before getting a master’s and focusing on her own work.
She is passionate about elevating femme voices, particularly in genre filmmaking--having been inspired by auteurs like Cronenberg, Lynch, and Jarmusch. She is also an advocate for the mental health of artists, a positive culture shift in the entertainment industry, and moving towards DEI from the inside out.
